A QR code on a shipping container or a park bench must survive the elements. Readability is a function of durability.

UV Fading & Contrast Loss

Sunlight fades black ink over time. Once the contrast ratio drops below a certain threshold, the scanner can no longer distinguish between modules.

  • Spec Strategy: Use UV-resistant inks and prioritize "Material Contrast" (laser etching) over surface printing.

Physical Obstruction (Rain & Dirt)

Water droplets act as lenses, distorting the square shape of the modules. Layered dirt can block entire segments.
